Explore Tahiti’s beach

Nicknamed ‘Tahiti Beach’, Raguénez Beach is renowned for its turquoise waters and golden sand. This little corner of paradise attracts swimmers as well as those who enjoy lazing about or taking morning strolls along the coast. The contrast between the sea’s vibrant colour and the surrounding greenery leaves no one unmoved.

Taking the time to enjoy this sheltered cove also gives you the chance to watch seabirds and take in a unique panoramic view of the nearby islets. Some people even use this beach as a chance to try out various water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking or snorkelling.

Discover the thatched-roof villages

Névez is notable for its rare cluster of authentic Breton thatched-roof villages, comprising stone-walled houses topped with thatched roofs. These hamlets date back to the 16th century and form part of the region’s distinctive architectural heritage. Kerascoët remains one of the most iconic places to explore on a peaceful stroll.

A stroll around Port Manec’h

Port Manec’h, a former fishing port that has been transformed into a seaside resort, charms visitors with its white and blue bathing huts, remnants of the early days of coastal tourism. Today, this attractive harbour marks the confluence of the Aven and the Atlantic Ocean, making it an ideal spot for sailing or simply soaking up the seaside atmosphere.

You can choose to stroll along the quay, stop off at a café overlooking the ria, or set off on a walk along the surrounding coastal paths to watch life in the harbour at different times of the day. Come evening, the sunsets are magnificent.

Setting off on the GR34 trail

The famous GR34 coastal path winds its way along the entire length of the Breton coastline and passes through Névez. Suggesting a walk along this path means offering the chance to explore hidden coves, rocky headlands and breathtaking natural sites. One panoramic view follows another, alternating between steep cliffs and small, sheltered coves accessible only on foot.

A walk along the GR34 is also an opportunity for contemplation: every turn reveals new landscapes, whilst the salty scent of the sea accompanies walkers.

Strolling through the village of Pont-Aven

About ten kilometres from Névez, Pont-Aven has always attracted artists and art lovers. Known as the “city of painters”, it owes its reputation to Paul Gauguin and the many studios that are open all year round.

As you stroll along the flower-lined footbridges and past the silent mills, you’ll soon realise why this village has inspired so many masterpieces. Art galleries, museums, local markets and entertainment punctuate the visit, offering countless opportunities to sample the famous Breton galettes or attend an open-air arts event.

Visit the walled town of Concarneau

Less than twenty minutes’ drive away, the walled town of Concarneau boasts a rich heritage behind its medieval ramparts. Here, you step into a scene straight out of a postcard, where the cobbled streets are lined with half-timbered houses, small craft shops and restaurants serving fresh fish landed at the nearby harbour.

During the summer season, Concarneau hosts a host of events and festivals that bring this seaside town to life. Taking part in a local event, attending a concert or treating yourself to a themed guided tour adds an extra dimension to exploring this historic site.

Take a breath at Rospico Cove

Rospico Cove combines untamed charm with a soothing atmosphere, thanks to its fine sandy beach nestled between two rocky headlands. You simply cannot visit Névez without experiencing the joys of water sports. The diverse coastline offers a wide range of activities and thrills, from sailing and windsurfing to stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and scuba diving. The schools located near the main beaches welcome visitors of all ages for taster sessions or more intensive courses.

For those who prefer simple trips out to sea, it is also possible to hire a boat or join an organised excursion to the neighbouring islands. The experience guarantees a change of scenery and lasting memories, whether it’s your first time sailing or a spot of sport fishing.
