A company committed to preserving its natural environment
At Ar Men Du, our commitment to the environment is inextricably linked to the setting around us.
Nestled between land, garden and ocean, we are committed to preserving this exceptional natural environment through concrete actions,
daily care for the natural world, and a more responsible approach to the hospitality industry.
From the vegetable patch to the plate, from how we manage the garden to the choices we make in our operations, every decision is driven by a commitment to respecting natural balances, promoting biodiversity and making the most of local resources.
A permaculture garden: living and evolving
Our garden is designed as a living ecosystem, cultivated according to the principles of agroecology.
It changes with the seasons, in harmony with nature and without the use of chemicals.
We do everything we can to preserve biodiversity, naturally enrich the soil and promote a sustainable balance
between crops, wildlife and our coastal environment.
As part of our efforts to share knowledge and raise awareness, we also offer guided tours of the garden. These visits provide an opportunity to share our practices, explain the principles of permaculture, and gain a better understanding of the fragility of our local ecosystem.
It is also a chance to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the natural world and adopting more environmentally friendly practices in our daily lives.
Making the most of our organic waste
As part of our commitment to the circular economy, we have installed a GEB Solutions bio-waste dehydrator, which transforms our organic waste – of both plant and animal origin – into a complete natural fertiliser.
This compost is then reused to nourish our garden and contributes to a virtuous cycle of resource reuse. It is also made available to our customers, thereby extending this approach to resource recovery.
Where production volumes allow, this compost can also be made available to local farmers and members of the public wishing to enrich their gardens, vegetable patches or green spaces.
This approach promotes the return of organic matter to the soil at a local level, reduces waste of resources and contributes to the development of more sustainable farming and gardening.
In this way, our bio-waste becomes a useful resource that benefits the whole region.
Conserving and making better use of water resources
Water management is a key priority for us.
We collect rainwater to water the garden, thereby reducing the amount of drinking water we use for our green spaces.
Local, seasonal and sustainable cuisine
Our cuisine is entirely based on local, seasonal, organic produce sourced through short supply chains.
We work closely with committed producers to offer cuisine that respects all living things,
the seasons and the region’s resources.
Sustainable hospitality in everyday life
In addition to our overall commitment to the environment, we incorporate these principles directly into the day-to-day running of the establishment.
This translates into concrete and visible actions at every stage of the stay:
- Awareness messages in guest rooms to encourage eco-friendly behaviour (water, energy and laundry management);
- Bed linen is changed only on request or every three days;
- Lighting systems in communal areas fitted with push-button switches to prevent unnecessary energy consumption in the event of someone forgetting to switch them off;
- Training for all employees on the organisation’s environmental policy, in particular through the programme ‘Implementing the company’s eco-responsible policy’
- Use of LED bulbs throughout the premises;
- Gradual reduction in single-use packaging;
- Replacing single-use welcome products with more sustainable refillable formats.
A comprehensive and coherent approach
All of these initiatives are part of a shared commitment:
to reduce our environmental impact whilst preserving the identity and natural wealth of Ar Men Du.
This approach evolves every day, with humility and high standards,
out of respect for all living things and the land that sustains us.
