Explore the coastline, from beaches to footpath
A coastal town, Bénodet is renowned for its beaches, whether for sunbathing, enjoying water sports or having fun with the family. Letty Beach stands out in particular, offering a wild, unspoilt atmosphere much loved by those who wish to immerse themselves in nature whilst being sheltered from the sea breeze.
For those who prefer walking, there are several footpaths criss-crossing the town and its surroundings. Following the GR34 – also known as the ‘customs officers’ path’ – you walk alongside the ocean; these seaside walks are a great way to recharge your batteries, punctuated by the sight of passing sailing boats and the ballet of the shorebirds.
Walks to Pointe de Groasguen
Among the must-see routes, the circular walk leading to Pointe de Groasguen captivates visitors with its breathtaking views of the estuary. This natural area offers a chance to enjoy different colours and unique atmospheres in every season. It’s a great opportunity to take photos of the opposite bank or simply watch the comings and goings at Bénodet harbour.

Discover the local culture through museums and heritage sites
The cultural richness of this seaside resort appeals to visitors keen to discover maritime traditions and history. The Musée du Bord de Mer traces the history of this former seaside resort and traditional Breton port. It features exhibitions on fishing and seafaring, as well as a fine collection of artefacts illustrating daily life on the Finistère coast.
In addition, a visit to the François Garrec biscuit factory offers a chance to savour local craftsmanship. Here, an old wood-fired oven and family recipes take centre stage during demonstrations (and tastings!).
The lighthouses of Bénodet
The region’s maritime heritage is also embodied in the historic lighthouses that watch over the coast. There are two lighthouses near Bénodet: the Coq and the Pyramide. You can walk right up to their base, but they are not open to the public, except on rare occasions.

Cruises on the Odet and outdoor adventures
No visit to Bénodet is complete without taking a cruise on the Odet, considered one of the most beautiful rivers in France. Aboard boats suitable for the whole family, the trip begins at the harbour and winds its way towards Quimper, revealing hidden mansions and flower-filled gardens lining both banks. These trips are very popular with nature and landscape lovers looking for a unique vantage point.
During the cruise, commentary enriches the excursion. You learn about the origins of certain villas and observe the local wildlife, whilst your gaze drifts over the green and silver reflections on the water.
Adventure park and activities for children
Families can round off a day in Bénodet by exploring an adventure park/tree-top adventure course situated not far from the town centre. Ideal after a visit to the museum or a morning on the beach, this site offers a variety of courses suitable for children and teenagers. Zip lines, suspension bridges and tree-top activity stations combine to create a safe and dynamic playground, suitable for all levels of agility.

Water sports and getaways by the sea
The appeal of the coastline would not be complete without mentioning the wide range of water sports available throughout the season. The sailing school is happy to introduce young and old alike to the art of sailing in the bay, whilst other organisations hire out kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and other equipment so you can explore the coast at your own pace.
Guided outings are organised regularly, allowing you to make rapid progress whilst benefiting from the advice of professionals who have been based at the resort for many years. After all that exertion, nothing beats a tasty break at a crêperie or a stop on the panoramic terrace of a café overlooking the ocean, to take in the Breton coastline.
Bénodet is a versatile, family-friendly destination where there is something for everyone, from enjoying the great outdoors and relaxing to taking part in sporting activities and cultural visits.
