What to do in Bénodet? Activities, recreation, and sightseeing.

Discover the Ar Men Du universe

Nestled at the mouth of the Odet River, Bénodet attracts many tourists every year. With its fine sandy beaches, seaside promenades, quintessential Breton lighthouses, and cruises on the Odet, Bénodet has plenty to offer.

Explore the coastline, from beaches to trails

A coastal town, Bénodet is known for its beaches, whether for sunbathing, water sports, or family fun. Letty Beach stands out in particular, offering a wild, unspoiled atmosphere that is highly appreciated by those who want to immerse themselves in nature while being sheltered from the sea breeze.

For those who prefer to go for a walk, there are several hiking trails crisscrossing the town and its surroundings. Following the GR34, also known as the Customs Officers’ Trail, you’ll walk along the ocean; these seaside strolls are a great way to recharge, punctuated by passing sailboats and the dance of shorebirds.

Hikes to Pointe de Groasguen

Among the must-see routes, the loop leading to Pointe de Groasguen captivates visitors with its breathtaking views of the estuary. This natural setting offers different colors and unique atmospheres in every season. It’s a great opportunity to photograph the opposite shore or simply watch the comings and goings at the port of Bénodet.

Discover local culture through museums and heritage sites

The cultural richness of this seaside resort appeals to visitors eager to explore maritime traditions and history. The Musée du Bord de Mer traces the history of this former seaside resort and traditional Breton port. It features exhibits on fishing and navigation, as well as a fine collection of artifacts that offer a glimpse into daily life along the Finistère coast.

In addition, a visit to the François Garrec biscuit factory offers a chance to experience local craftsmanship. Here, old wood-fired ovens and family recipes take center stage during demonstrations (and tastings!).

The lighthouses of Bénodet

The region’s maritime heritage is also embodied in the historic lighthouses that watch over the coast. There are two lighthouses near Bénodet: the Coq and the Pyramide. You can walk right up to them, but they are not open to the public, except on rare occasions.

Cruises on the Odet and outdoor adventures

No visit to Bénodet is complete without taking a cruise on the Odet, considered one of the most beautiful rivers in France. Aboard family-friendly boats, the cruise begins at the port and winds its way toward Quimper, revealing hidden mansions and flower-filled gardens lining both banks. These excursions are particularly popular with nature and landscape lovers seeking a unique vantage point.

During the cruise, commentary enhances the experience. You’ll learn about the origins of certain villas and observe the local wildlife, while your gaze drifts over the green and silver reflections on the water.

Adventure Park and Activities for Kids

Families can round out their day in Bénodet by exploring an adventure park and tree-top course located just a short distance from downtown. Perfect after a visit to the museum or a morning at the beach, this site offers a variety of courses suitable for children and teens. Zip lines, suspension bridges, and tree-top activity stations come together to create a safe and dynamic playground that’s enjoyable for all skill levels.

Water Activities and Getaways by the Sea

The appeal of the coastline wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the wide range of water sports available all season long. The sailing school is happy to introduce both children and adults to the art of sailing in the bay, while other providers rent out kayaks, paddleboards, and other equipment so you can explore the coast at your own pace.

Guided outings are regularly scheduled, allowing you to improve quickly while benefiting from the advice of professionals who have been based at the resort for many years. After working up a sweat, nothing beats a gourmet break at a crêperie or a stop on the panoramic terrace of a café overlooking the ocean, where you can take in the Breton coastline.

Bénodet is a versatile, family-friendly destination where everyone can find something to enjoy, whether it’s nature, relaxation, sports, or cultural attractions.
